Professional Development Hours
The Arkansas Department of Human Services, Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education sets and maintains the child care licensing standards for Arkansas. One requirement is that all providers must receive a set number of training hours each year in order to retain their child care license.
All ECEP courses qualify toward this requirement. Provable credit can be obtained through the issuance of Continuing Education Units (CEU). Every 10 hours of course time equals 1 CEU credit hour. Currently, the cost of CEUs is $15 for each CEU request. This means that even if a course is not completed, CEUs can be issued for the portion of the course that was attended. However, should the remainder of the course be taken at a later date, an additional cost will be incurred if CEUs are requested.
CEU payments are no longer collected by the trainer at the end of the course. Rather, the participant’s information is submitted directly to the University of Arkansas for billing. Once payment is received by the UofA, the CEU will be issued and sent to the participant.
