Strengthening Families

SF logoStrengthening Families: Bringing the Protective Factors Framework to Life

The curriculum Bringing the Protective Factors Framework to Life in Your Work – A Resource for Action is a face-to-face course adapted from online content by the National Alliance of Children's Trust and Prevention Funds (Alliance). The Alliance's development team knew early on that to meet the needs of individual learning preferences the content of the training would need to be available in multiple formats. The key content of both formats is the same, with activities adapted to meet the needs of adult learners. Curriculum content includes materials on partnering with parents and concrete examples of everyday actions that research has shown to be effective in strengthening families.

Early Care and Education Projects' certified trainers will deliver the face-to-face course to early educators around the state. The title of the training when searching the state's registry will be Strengthening Families: Bringing the Protective Factors Framework to Life.

The course consists of seven lessons that are each 3 hours in length (21 hours total).

  • Introduction
  • Parental Resilience
  • Social Connections
  • Knowledge of Parenting and Child Development
  • Concrete Support in Times of Need
  • Social and Emotional Competence of Children
  • Moving from Knowledge to Action - Wrap Up

This course is approved for Arkansas Department of Education professional development credit.
