Professional Development Rules
The Arkansas Division of Child Care and Early Childhood Education requires all licensed teachers to take part in specific training. This training must meet the requirements of the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE). The ADE grants assurance numbers to organizations offering training that meets the requirements set forth by ADE.
The ADE requires all teacher preparation to meet the high standards of professional development and follow the rules governing professional development, as outlined by the ADE.
The 36-hours of professional development requirement must be fulfilled between July 1 and June 30 unless the employing school district approves and documents the professional develpment year as between June 1 and May 31. Check with your local school district for which months these hours count.
Professional development providers must renew their applications each year. These dates run between July 1 and June 30.
