Pre-K Standards: Arkansas CDELS

Pre-K Standards: Arkansas CDELS provides early childhood professionals with a foundation in the early learning standards. This training provides early educators with strategies for implementing the Arkansas Child Development and Early Learning Standards: Birth through 60 Months (Arkansas CDELS) into the classroom through knowing the children, preparing the environment, curriculum planning, and ways to support and engage families.


Pre-K Standards: Arkansas CDELS helps early educators:

  • Understand how to use the Arkansas Child Development and Early Learning Standards: Birth through 60 Months
  • Identify current and continued theory and research in regards to child development
  • Prepare the environment to most benefit children's development and learning
  • Explore developmentally appropriate materials in planning and implementing activities
  • Select topics of study based on observation and assessment
  • Understand the importance of engaging families and connecting with communities

Pre-K Standards: Arkansas CDELS includes the following lessons:

  1.   Overview of the Arkansas Child Development and Early Learning Standards: Birth through 60 Months  3 hours
  2.   Knowing Children: Theory, Research, and Child Development  3 hours
  3.   Preparing the Environment  3 hours
  4.   Planning and Implementing Activities  3 hours
  5.   Selecting Topics of Study Through Observation and Assessment  3 hours
  6.   In-depth Exploration of a Topic of Study  3 hours
  7.   Engaging Families and Communities  3 hours

Pre-K Standards: Arkansas CDELS offers the following to all participants:

  • Up to 21 hours of professional development credit from the Arkansas Professional Development Registry and the Arkansas Department of Education
  • Available for anyone to enroll in FREE OF CHARGE
  • FREE course materials and access to in-depth content, including a participant manual and other resources, such as Harry the Dirty Dog, Arkansas CDELS, a poster of the Arkansas CDELS, Strategies and Activities: Preschool, and both Kindergarten Readiness Indicator Checklists for Families and for Teachers
  • Up to 2.1 Continuing Education Units, upon request
  • Certificate of Completion and Verification of Training Hours, upon request
  • Opportunity to collaborate and build community engagement with other industry experts

The Arkansas Department of Education approves all courses provided by Early Care and Education Projects for professional development credit. However, the awarding of professional development credit based on attendance at this workshop is solely at the discretion of the local school district.
